Acer campestre | Field Maple

A medium sized, deciduous and native tree with a pyramidal crown that softens to a rounded top with maturity. In spring, the Acer campestre produces small, yellow and green flowers and small, dark green leaves with five rounded lobes that turn a stunning buttercup yellow in autumn. Clusters pink-tinged, winged seed pods appear in autumn. This tree tolerates exposure to salt and wind, and urban pollution so thrives in many locations including coastal areas. The Acer campestre grows well in hedgerows, woodlands, gardens and parks, and is a vital source of food for all wildlife.
