Acer platanoides ‘Deborah’ – Norway Maple Deborah
The Acer platanoides 'Deborah' is a Canadian cultivar of the Norway Maple. This large deciduous tree is a stunning feature when planted in large gardens and avenues. It is a very hardy tree that will grow in most fertile well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade. Resistance to pollution, reflected heat and drought tolerance make this tree ideal for urban planting and city landscapes. The large maple leaves with wavy margins are bright red in spring then deep green in summer. An interesting feature of this tree is that with each new growth spurt throughout the season, new vivid red foliage appears giving the tree a canopy of constantly changing red and green colour; so lots of interest. In autumn, leaves provide a brilliant display of red, orange and yellow. The Acer platanoides 'Deborah' is a very versatile and interesting tree with a dense rounded crown on maturity, so it needs plenty of space to grow. A favourite specimen tree for many planting schemes.
