Acer platanoides ‘Emerald Queen’ | Emerald Queen Norway Maple

The Acer platanoides 'Emerald Queen' is an American cultivar of the Acer platanoides, Norway Maple. This is a large deciduous tree with a strong leader and a neat, upright canopy that becomes more broad and rounded with maturity. It has large, five-lobed leaves that first appear a faded red then turn a lovely bright lime green in summer. In autumn the foliage is a blaze of golden-yellow, orange and amber. Clusters of yellow-green flowers appear on bare branches in spring before the leaves and, once pollination takes place, green winged samaras appear in autumn. The Acer platanoides 'Emerald Queen' is a very hardy tree that will grow well in most soil types and is tolerant of wind and air pollution making it an ideal tree for avenues and urban planting.
