Acer platanoides | Norway Maple
The Acer platanoides is a large, deciduous broad-leaf tree with a pyramidal crown that rounds with maturity. This tree is native to Eastern and Central Europe and was introduced into the UK in the 17th century. The Acer platanoides is a very hardy tree that will grow in most soil conditions in parks and gardens. Its tolerance of pollution, compacted soil and shade makes this a popular tree for street planting. There are many different cultivars of the Acer platanoides, each with their own characteristics.
