Betula utilis var. Jacquemontii

Native to Nepal, the Betula utilis var. Jacquemontii is an elegant, deciduous tree with a broad pyramidal shape. This popular tree is best known for its lovely white bark, accentuated by lenticels lines, that peels back to reveal new, fresh white layers. The white branch framework gives a stunning architectural presence in winter months. In contrast to the Betula pendula, this tree has ascending branches and a denser crown with larger leaves. And yellow catkins appear, 12cm long, in spring before the leaves. The Betula utilis var. Jacquemontii can be planted as a single specimen or in groups.
