Betula ermanii | Erman’s Birch | Golden Birch

The Betula ermanii is an attractive Birch with a pyramidal crown that rounds with maturity. The most prominent feature of this tree is its creamy-pink, peeling bark that stands out during winter months. This is one of the the first trees to come into leaf in spring, ahead of other Birches. Short, brown-yellow catkins appear in spring alongside bright green, heart-shaped leaves, irregularly toothed with clearly visible veins. The leaves then turn a lovely clear-yellow in autumn before they fall early, at the end of the season. The Betula ermanii will thrive in all types of soil and any aspect, and it will also tolerate reflective heat and light making it a good choice for urban environments. Planted as a single specimen tree, a multi-stem or in a group, the Betula ermanii is a popular tree for landscaping projects.
