Crataegus laevigata ‘Paul’s Scarlet’ l Red Hawthorn

This small hardy ornamental tree is one of the most popular of all all Thorn trees producing a spectacular display of double red flowers in May; these appear after the flowering Cherry trees and so adding interest to the landscape. It has a dense foliage of small deeply lobed dark green and slightly glossy leaves that turn red in the autumn, small red/black fruits also appear in the autumn which are a great favourite with birds. The Crataegus laevigata 'Paul's Scarlet' is a very hardy tree and adapts well to most environments and soil types including dry and wet sites; it is also tolerant of salt winds, exposure and pollution.
