Liquidamber styraciflua ‘Slender Silhouette’ I Slender Silhouette Sweetgum

The Liquidambar styraciflua 'Slender Silhouette' is an extremely columnar cultivar of the Sweetgum tree. It has stiffly ascending branches which grow close to the trunk giving a dense, compact narrow form, rarely exceeding 2m in width. The leaves are as the species, Liquidamber styraciflua, star shaped with five lobes; they open a lovely fresh green and give stunning autumn colours with a display of crimson reds, orange and amber, when planted in full sun the autumn colours are at their best. It has inconspicuous flowers which turn into spiky round capsules full of seeds. This interesting tree is low maintenance and will thrive in most soil types and will even tolerate some drought and wet conditions, making the Liquidambar styraciflua 'Slender Silhouette' a perfect tree for gardens, avenues and even street planting.
