Magnolia ‘Galaxy’ I Galaxy Magnolia

The Magnolia 'Galaxy' is a hybrid between Magnolia liliflora ‘Nigra’ and Magnolia sprengeri ‘Diva’. It is best known for it's stunning display of large tulip shaped, lightly scented flowers which are a range of purple, pink and red in colour, they emerge from lovely red buds late in the spring and so often miss the spring frosts. During the summer the tree is covered in large dark green leaves which turn yellow before falling in the autumn. The Magnolia 'Galaxy' has a conical habit with a strong central leader and ascending branches which broaden with age. It will grow in a range of soils although prefers moist, slightly acidic well drained soil and in a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade. A beautiful tree which will make a great focal point in any garden.
