Sorbus commixta ‘Embley’ I Embley Mountain Ash

The Sorbus commixta 'Embley' is a small, striking, ornamental tree, best known for it's magnificent autumn colour, when it's foliage turns an amazing brilliant red. It has an erect compact habit, although as it matures the canopy becomes more rounded. The pinnate leaves with up to 17 finely serrated leaflets are bright green in the summer, before giving way to their dazzling autumn colours. In May and June the tree is covered in corymbs of creamy white flowers; from mid-summer to late October the tree has large clusters of red/orange fruit, adding extra interest and valuable food for birds and wildlife. Like all Sorbus the Sorbus commixta 'Embley' is a tough tree that will thrive in most well drained soils, and even exposed sites. This low maintenance tree makes an excellent choice for many different locations, adding a great focal impact especially in the autumn.
