Sorbus commixta ‘Olympic Flame’ I Scarlet Rowan

The Sorbus commixta ‘Olympic Flame’, originates from the island Ulleungdo in South Korea, it is also known as Sorbus commixta ‘Dodong’ which is the name of the harbour on Ulleungdo. It is a very popular tree with a neat slender form and pinnate foliage, which is a glossy green that turns a stunning fiery orange and red in the autumn. This Sorbus has clusters of creamy-white flowers in late spring, followed by heavy bunches of attractive large orange/red berries, which stay on the tree from autumn into winter, great food for the birds during the winter months. This lovely eye catching tree makes a splendid addition to any garden and thrives in most well drained soils, in full sun, partial shade and any aspect, it is also know to be pest and disease resistant.
